Arsenal are looking to make it 10 unbeaten against Southampton when they host Ronald Koeman’s side on Wednesday night. The Gunners won at West Brom on Saturday after a disappointing defeat to Manchester United which ended a run of 23 league games unbeaten at home, and they will be hoping to continue their impressive home league record against the Saints, who were well beaten by Manchester City at the weekend. Southampton lie third in the table after Sunday’s defeat and, despite not winning in 19 Premier League games at Arsenal, they’ve already tasted victory at the Emirates Stadium this season when they earned a 2-1 victory over Arsene Wenger’s men in the Capital One Cup. The visitors are entering a tough period of their season – with their December fixtures also including clashes with Manchester United, Everton and Chelsea and Koeman will be keen to show his side can maintain their high position.
Arsenal's Nacho Monreal and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are doubtful with knee problems, while Kieran Gibbs is struggling with a ankle injury. Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny (hip) and Mikel Arteta (calf) are both still out. Southampton will be without Morgan Schneiderlin, who injured his thigh in Sunday's defeat to Manchester City. The midfielder could be replaced by Jack Cork, who has recovered from illness or Harry Reed could also be called upon.
